Auto Loan 7 years discharge/low income?

Hello. Wanted to run a few questions by everyone and see what you think.

Chapter 7 discharged in Oct. 2003. All FICOs are in the 650 - 680 range.

Made a career change in 2005 and recently just graduated grad. school. I've accepted an internship that will pay me $17,000 over an 8 month time period starting in June. Do I have a chance to get approved for an auto loan with a bank or credit union? How about with a cosigner? If not, how about at the dealership (last option). Interested in a Honda Civic, Ford Focus, or similar car. A newer used car would be fine or new. I have no debt other than student loans with a monthly payment of approx. $100 a month. All living expenses are paid during internship.

You should be able to get a loan with one of the several sources listed above. I would try the credit union first as that is probably where you will get the best interest rate. If approved and you go to a dealership and offer you a lower rate - even better. I would get approval first with a credit union or bank and then go to the dealership. That will give you more leverage. IMO. Good luck!

Alaska USA (credit union) a good one to try

My parents have Alaska USA currently and now Alaska USA is our lender. (we purchased a Honda Odyssey EX 2010). My parent's, who filed BK and were discharged last May (2009) will hear tomorrow on their interest rate/approval for a possible 2010 Honda CR-V. They will be trading in a 2007? Chevy Malibu, that they still owe $7k on. If they can give my parent's a loan, then you should be fine.....since you have 7 yrs. plus since d/c!

I'll post when their info comes through.

So I am definitely optimistic for you! Let us know!
