Have you been with your employer for a short time? Also, I'm not sure if you said in your OP but what are your scores like? Our TU is our lowest at only 560 and that happens to be the score our CU pulls Thankfully they looked past our scores to see the 4 auto loans we've had with perfect payment history and the mortgage we've had for 3 yrs with also perfect payment history .... otherwise we would have been SOL I'm sure.Filed 8/2009

I know you like a vehicle at a particular dealer...
Have you tried Roadloans.com, and is there a Carmax near you? Carmax will bring in a vehicle from another Carmax within 250 miles. FOR FREE, and you're not obligated to buy just by asking them to transfer it. Roadloans are accepted at Carmax.
And since you've already been car application shopping - no harm in applying for all possible. Multiple car loan inquiries in a ~2 week time span count as 1 on the credit score.Get mortgage modified: DONE! 7 months of back interest payments amortized, payment reduced over $200/mo
(In the 'planning' stage, to file ch. 13 if/when we have to.)

Until we pay it off...which will be sooner than 7 yrs!
Here is our fresh off the printer financing info:
Lender: Alaska USA
Amt. financed: $28K (OTD: $40K)
$7000 trade in
$5000 down (we originally said $7-10K, but $5K was sufficient)
APR 7.9% (84 mos/7yrs) ha ha...yeah right! They will not be getting over $8K in interest!
Scores both 689 (i've been hesitant to apply for credit as I just don't want it!) It's the necessary evil. Wish scores were better. But our $3K in credit card debt will soon be paid off. We subscribe to TruCredit/ScoreWatch at the moment as well as myfico.com. MyFico is definitely the more accurate one!
*purchased home in 2008, zero down/Rural Housing Development Gov't loan (which is no more...it was a 20+ yr. old loan that didn't pick up popularity again until the economy tanked), we did receive $8K tax credit (will have to pay back $500/yr starting this year), lender was Taylor Bean & Whittaker --gov't shut them down due to fraud-- & loan was bought out by Bank of America...our interest rate is 6.5%? I believe.
Filed ch7 (husband only)
discharged 2/14/07
His tradelines: mortgage, now car, and Orchard unsecured ($500 credit line)
My tradelines: mortgage, now car, Chase unsecured 13.24% interest, Best Buy, Old Navy (I've used it twice), & Wells Fargo (from a furniture purchase).
Looking forward to our scores increasing by having a car loan. After not reaffirming our 2 cars during the BK, but paying them off, was frustrating at times to have it read 'included in bk' on his credit report. But that's what the atty. advised us to do. No regrets, but we'd have a better interest rate on our car now, had we reaffirmed.
HTH!
