    Opinions on auto loan

Hello! The wife and I are suppose to be discharged next Mon, Nov 16 . I am hoping to get another vehicle VERY soon after that date. Since she totaled my SUV before we were able to reaffirm it, we are down to just her car. We were caught up on our payments at that time and planned on reaffirming it until she flipped it.

Anyway, I don't want to get alot of dings on my CR while trying to get a new auto loan. And of course, we won't have much $$ to put down. We have had mailings from 2 dealerships offering their 'special' financing, but are those any good? I plan on going to a reputable dealership.

Just worried about too many hits on my CR during this time. Any suggestions? I have gone through the stickies but want to know if there is anything else I need to look for, or at least some help. I am in mid-Missouri so if anyone out there has dealt with St. Louis dealerships or mid-Mo dealerships, I would like opinions on that if you don't mind.

    Thanks,
    Yumyum

You can apply on line with Capital One and Chase but here's the thing: we did that and Cap One approved us while Chase declined us.

Then we went to the dealership and they got us approved through Cap One at a lower interest rate than we were offered and then they applied us to Chase and they approved us at 12.9%.

My point? It may be better to just go in and talk with a finance manager. Be honest and upfront and let them look at your credit and tell you what they think.

With Chase we put $1500 down they wouldn't have financed us otherwise but we are happy with the 12.9%. We think that's good coming out of BK.

We had several CapOne cards, and one CapOne personal loan, included in our BK, along with a Chase card. Not too sure that those two companies would give us an auto loan .

I have several dealers in mind that I want to talk to the weekend after our discharge (that would be NEXT weekend ). Of course, would that be just too soon? I would like a SUV before too much snow/ice comes our way. The wife and I live on a really curvy highway and not very good in the wet stuff to get to work (we both work in the same city), thus having a 4x4 really makes a difference.

I think that first getting your credit report to reflect all information accurately is very important...
        Filed CH7 on Aug-06-2009 -- DONE!
        341 meeting on Oct-01-2009 -- DONE!
        Discharged on Nov-12-2009 -- DONE!
Case Closed on Jun-15-2010 -- DONE!

Just go talk with them and see what they say. If you're going that soon though make sure you bring a copy of your discharge letter with you so you can prove that you are discharged. It may not show on your credit report immediatly.

I actually don't know what our scores are. TU gives us a fake score of 640. But TU also said that our fake Equifax score is only 570 and that's what the dealership pulled so IDK.
