Hows a girl to get around in LA without a car??

Ok Im about to file ch7. Live in LA, and am returning my car because I owe double its value due to rolling previous car upside into this loan.

That being said... Anyone have any experience as to how long you were able to keep you car before you had to return it and being able to finance a new car? Ihave 2k cash right now for a car and next month will have 4k. My car payment isnt late until Spt 10th either, so hopefully that buys me some time.

    Like this:

    Just kidding.

Why not file 13 and do a cramdown on the car?

Pay no attention to anything I post. I graduated last in my class from a fly-by-night law school that no longer exists; I never studied or went to class; and I only post on internet forums when I'm too drunk to crawl away from the computer.

If you will have $4K next month, you should be able to buy a pretty decent reliable used car for that if you shop correctly. Then, you will have no payments. You probably have exemptions enough to exempt that much money in a car.

I would get away from the mentality of always having a car payment. It is a sure fire way to stave off that "negative equity" and owing twice what the car is worth.
Filed 8/08 - Discharged 11/08! Not tracking FICO.
      Pre-Bankruptcy Net Worth: -$72,000... Today's net worth: $142,000.
If your FICO score just went higher than your net worth, and you are happy about this, you might have a financial problem!

Tell me how much you have when you're ready to buy a car along with your zip code and how far you're willing to drive to get a car, along with the oldest year and miles you're willing to deal with, and I will find you a whole bunch of cars you can buy for cash in your area.
