APPROVED up to $20,000! Interest rate depends on the final loan amount and length but will be 7-9%. A vast improvement over the 18% I was paying on my other loan!

I am looking at a 2008 Toyota Yaris. The one I'm looking at is priced at $13,900 and I'm planning to offer $13,000 with $13,500 as my absolute maximum. The trade-in value on the car is $14,100, so I'm getting a good deal either way. I can finance it for 36 months for only a few dollars more than I'm paying on my existing loan (which still had 36 months left before the wreck). Total of the payments will only be a little over $15,000.

It also has the 7 year/100,000 mile warranty, which is a must in my situation.

I still can't believe I was approved at a decent rate after being declined about 14 times. It truly does matter which bank you choose and what their policies are. I thought all banks were the same but I've learned differently!

What bank were you approved with?

I think what really helps is time between your discharge and now. Seems like the closer you are to discharge, the higher your rate will be.

      Congrats and Good luck!

This was through US Bank. Apparently the credit crisis hasn't really hurt them; they told me they have plenty of money to lend.

Updating again to let everyone know of an alternative - I got a call from another Toyota dealership the day after I bought my car to let me know they would finance me. Luckily I didn't need it, but they were willing to do 12% interest on a new car with a FICO score over 620. The guy said they pulled Equifax but they will pull whichever bureau is the highest if a person lets them know when they apply for financing. This financing was through Toyota Motor Credit. Apparently they're loosening up a bit since cars aren't really moving.

you have a great car there, and plenty fast to. If you want to ,get a nice set of chrome wheels. Any shop that does body work can get you a paint job, as far as under lighting most speed shops or auto parts stores can help point you in the right direction.

                    Please advice

Your post states you purchased a car while in BK. How did you do this? We just totalled our only transportation (not our fault). Currently in BK, and am desperately needing to get some other form of transportation. Please help!
