From what I've heard, it is not illegal to apply for credit, just not smart, if for any reason the trustee wants to look back at something how are you going to explain applying for new credit when you can't pay the old credit. KWIM. That being said nowadays a car is a necessity for most people. I know a dealership here in Las vegas sent us a notice that we can get a new car as long as we are past our 341. I don't need or want one right now, so I guess it must be possible. Good Luck

How Long Should I wait to Apply for credit after BK?

I've been recently discharged and I need a loan to buy a used car (I'm currently riding the bus). I'd like to buy a car as soon as possible, but I'm wondering if I should wait until my discharge shows up on my credit report. Is that necessary or can a lender see that I've been discharged through other sources, like PACER?
