    Got My Car!

    Hi Everyone,

I know it's been a while but my internet was down. Anyway, I picked up my car and I must admit I got a sweet deal. 2007, Suzuki Grand Vitara, fully loaded for only 21,350. I was lucky that after I went to one dealer he offered me almost a $6K discount so I went to the same dealer in the next city over and he wanted to beat the deal and added a $1500 discount. Anyway, I'm VERY HAPPY and can't believe how much better I was by having my financing preapproved. Hope all is going well with everyone, I've been gone for a minute but I'm back and ROLLING!!!!!

I'm so happy for you ! I want to trade in my car and upgrade to a V6. The dealer said they would keep my same rate at 9.9%, however my payments would be $500 instead of $350 and of course I would loose $4000 on the deal. Hmmm, considering I have no other debts but the necessary debts, I'm really really really TEMPTED !

    Happy For You ! Catchmeifyoucan

      Thanks, catchmeifyoucan,

I don't know if I'd do a $500 payment, but if you can that's great. My payments are running right at $380 and I still wish it was lower. I'm so happy since I wanted an SUV and never thought I could actually get one. I plan on making each payment a little higher than what's due. I know it won't put a big dent in what I owe but it can't hurt. Good luck with upgrade!

That would be a smart thing to do if you can send a little more than the montly payment. My current payments for the Sonata are $344, I just send in $350. When I won at the casino (I had sent in $1000) so I'm ahead 3 months. My goal is to pay off my car by next year with casino hits.

Did you think about gas prices rising when you chose your SUV ? Well, no matter, you got what you wanted and are happy, thats what counts. I was considering the Hyundai Sante Fe, a tad bit smaller than the SUV, but I dunno.

Thats why I'm considering on an upgrade, I work too long and too damn hard and deserve to spoil myself (I guess).

        ENJOY ! Catchmeifyoucan !

Sounds like you're doing well with this one CATCHME! I'd stick with what you're doing because there's nothing better than owning the title to your car.

Sara - What kind of interest rate did you get and what are your credit scores that they pulled when you got the financing?

Boscoe, Cap1 offered me 10.5% however, Navy FCU gave me half of that since I'm retired, with VA disability as well as work full time so my interest is 5.25%. I didn't post it because I know it's not like that for most, being military affilated really helps, ALOT!

I noticed you said Navy FCU gave you a loan? I'm just wondering b/c when they caught wind of us filing bk they dropped all my accounts. Did they do the same with you and just reopen? I have been with them for almost 10 years and didn't file anything on them!
