    I got a car!

I'm so excited! I bought a car yesterday! It's a 2004 Scion xB with 42k miles. I got a great deal, it includes a nice warranty, and it gets great gas mileage! I got financing through Cap1 blank check @ 13.45%, which I think is great considering my BK and repo. The F&I lady at the dealership said she would not have been able to get that good of a rate for me.

I was going to wait longer to get a car (work on cleaning credit more, etc), but I'm moving and will be farther away from work- and won't be able to take the bus.

I'm so excited. I haven't had a car since mine was repo'd in April of 06!!!

Yep, great job!! Wait six months of on time payments and give lending tree.com and community christian credit union a try on a refi!!! You'll be able to get it to even below 10 or so then..... 13% for now isn't bad though! Doesn't it just feel good to be back in the game of life??????? I know the feeling! When I got my first car after BK I felt like I as driving a Rolls!!!! I had so much appreciation for that car than any car ever before in my life! Congrats!

Way to go FOLLIE!!!! I'm looking to buy myself. My last day for objections is tomorrow (August 13th) and I'm so ready for this to be over. I sure hope my is discharged and closed as fast as yours. Was it hard to get the cap 1 loan? I'm nervous about it since I'm giving up my car in the BK. They have come to get it yet or called but I'm sure it won't be long after the discharge. I won't ask your scores since I know that's private but instead I'll send mine and you can tell me if I stand a chance with a cap 1 loan

        Trans Union - 568
        Experian - 554
        Equifax - 579

Hope I can get a loan with cap 1 since I think getting my own financing will help when going to look. Let me know what you think and if you think my scores will be good enough.

Again CONGRATS!! I'm look at the Scion as well!!

Thanks everyone!! I pick it up on Wednesday!!!

lrprn- Thanks! And thanks for your input and help on this board. (A complete sidenote- I always read your username as LR - PRN. Hee. Knowing you're a nurse makes that funnier to me.).

Cindy- that's exactly what the F&I lady said to do. I was hoping to recreate your brilliant Ford scores, but I am so happy with my 13%. Totally doable, payment wise.

Sara- Congrats on tomorrow!!!! Waiting for discharge after the last day of objections was the hardest part of everything. It wasn't hard to get Roadloans- they approved me in hours. Cap1 took a couple of days "for processing from their special loan dept." I figured it was a big fat decline, but it wasn't. The F&I lady gave me some good tips. She doesn't like using these check things. Be prepared to give Cap1 and the dealerships names, addresses and phone #s of references (I had to give 2, but she said it can be up to 5!). The dealership also wants a copy of my most recent paystub, too, which Cap1 didn't tell me they would need, but I don't mind giving them a copy of it.

My scores were, and still are, overall lower than yours. They pull all three scores and take the best auto enhanced one, which is different than your FICO.

          Good luck!

Thanks Follie, I'll be sure to have my pay statement and references. I just hope mine discharge a few days from now. I'm guessing Roadloans offer was not good. I'd really rather go with Cap 1 since I know very little about roadloans, but I guess it don't matter as long as I get an ok rate. Again thanks and good luck on REBUILDING, I'm sure you'll done fine!!!

I had a lot of money (almost 25%) i order to get the ford %....so don't fret it!! I wasn't able to duplicate it either without the big downpayment....lol.....so, on the second car we used cap 1 blank check for 10 something ..almost 11 and about to start the process of a refi (waiting to hear how catchme comes out)with community christian credit union. I like using cap 1 blank check...worked well. I am soooooooooooo happy for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know wednesday seems like light years from now!!!!! Are we there yet? Are we there yet?

I love my car. I love it love it love it. I love that it doesn't take me an hour to go the 8 miles to work. I love that I can use the air conditioning in 97 degree heat. I love that I can listen to Harry Potter audio books while stuck in traffic. I love that I can take my dog for a long car ride.

I will say, though, that every morning I worry that it won't be there in the parking lot. I don't even have a payment due yet, but I'm already worried it will be repo'd. Barring any kind of prolonged job loss, I won't be in that position ever again. I can EASILY afford this car, have an emergency fund that is building every month, and am moving to a cheaper apartment so that I have even more disposable income. But I'm still scared!

But that's a small price to pay for the fun I'm having!
