I consulted with a lawyer about 2 weeks ago and I should be able to file chapter 7. I guess since I am a sole proprieter and I dont have intentions of continuing the business. I felt really comfortable and confident with her (the lawyer) so I dont think I will be consulting any others. She's been practicing bankruptcy law for about 10 years, giving me a summary on how she would work my case as well as expressing some subtle nuances of filing as a business sole proprieter/ individual. She has also worked as an assistant to a trustee so knows what they look for. So I left with my folder of paperwork homework feeling encouraged and hopeful about getting out of this situation I never imaged being in.
Before going to the lawyer I spent about a day thinking I would file pro se but am glad I went to speak to an attorney and realized that their expertise is really invaluable.
