Hello Everyone! I'm new to the forum and I am considering filing pro se. I've already retained a lawyer and for a total fee of $1,570 (including court fees and credit counseling) he'll file on my behalf. I am, however, a very broke (obviously) college student and was thinking of going pro se because I really can't afford that anytime in the near future. I did become aware of the fact that I may be able to have my court fees waived, which my lawyer never told me and would save me an extra $300. On top of that he will, of course, not file until he is paid in full and I don't have that kind of time to waste. My case is not complicated at all. Should I consult with a paralegal and just go about it myself or is it smarter to have a lawyer represent and file for me? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am in New York, if that helps or is at all relevant Thanks
