    1. Please DO NOT ask questions via the Personal Message system.

The purpose of this forum is to SHARE information. This forum allows members to share their experience and knowledge for the benefit of ALL members and visitors. Those goals cannot be met if people are asking and responding to questions and concerns via the PM system. After all, this forum is NOT professionally staffed.

If you are a member and receive a question via the PM system, please politely direct that person to post their question in the appropriate public forum.

    2. This site is not an attorney referral service and we discourage individuals from discussing individual attorneys.

The reasons being. (a), this is an anonymous forum so you don't really know who is behind the recommendation, (b) this forum is for information and learning, we often aid members in how to deal with their attorney, but we are not in a position to recommend specific attorneys, (c) even though we have many members, those members represent a fraction of the people who have filed BK in your area, so any one persons experience may or may not be insightful, and (d) many BK cases are different, so a member may have had a good experience with their attorney because she had a no-nonsense case, but that same attorney may not be a good choice for a complicated or unique BK.

Thus, please refrain from asking for specific attorney recommendations or asking questions about specific attorneys or firms.

    3. Make sure your Thread Titles are substantive and not general or generic. You will get a better response if you title your thread in a way that gives readers some indication of your question or concern. Thus, instead of "Help!" or "New Here", try "Can someone over the median income still file BK". Also, by titling your threads topically, it makes the forum search feature more useful. This suggestion does not mean your titles must be in a the form of a question, or terribly long, but please try to make your titles topical and indicative of the thread contents.
